BoseKnives Liner Milling

The liners on Bose Knives are typically milled in the pivot area. This reduces the liner surface area that can potentially make contact with the blade tang. The most obvious benefit is that the tang stamps will not be marred by the liners over time.

The process involves clamping the the liner to be milled in a special clamp that pivots on a base block. The clamp and block must be perfectly flat and at 90 degrees to an appropriately sized end mill. The end mill is plunged into the liner to .007" and the liner is rotated to cut the relief.

Here is an image sequence without text. We will be adding text later that will help explain the process
