2. Use a contact wheel smaller than the primary bevel radius

Tony's grinds are typically done on a 14" contact wheel. When doing a hand rubbed finish, he clamps a 8" wheel in the bench vice and uses the smaller radius to sand the bevels. A smaller radius sanding surface helps to keep the sand paper away from the outer edges of the blade, keeping the grind lines crisp.

Position the wheel so that the surface you will be using is at a comfortable height. The abrasive paper is cut in 2" widths and can simply lay on the wheel...no need to tape it down for this step.
